About the role
We’re seeking a Corporate Counsel to support Transurban’s delivery and integration of major road network projects in NSW. As a member of the Transurban Legal team, this position is responsible for providing high-quality legal advice to those parts of the Group within their area of responsibility. As a Corporate Counsel, you will ensure that legal obligations are met, and legal risks managed, while seeking maximum alignment with the Group’s business objectives and protection of its interests and reputation.
The position involves the provision of legal advice to support continued delivery and integration of major road network projects in NSW, including contract administration, claims management, commercial transactions, regulatory issues, and management of external legal advisers. The incumbent must be capable of building strong and effective working relationships with people at all levels across the Group and representing Transurban in meetings or communications with external stakeholders.
Day-to-day, you will:
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
Post-qualification experience within a law firm or relevant corporate sector.
Law degree and qualification as a lawyer in Australia or comparable jurisdiction.
Admission as a solicitor in Australia and current practicing certificate.
Ability to interpret legislation and legal requirements and apply them clearly and effectively to relevant business operations.
Good technical skills, with experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
Proactive approach to managing legal risk.
Ability to build effective working relationships with individuals at all levels both within the organisation and externally. Highly regarded:
Experience in construction law, major projects (including Public Private Partnerships), and litigation/dispute resolution matters.
